A challenge that confronts Asian-Americans is that we often are viewed as “the other,” or “the perpetual foreigner” — that is, somehow fundamentally different than other Americans. Popular media tends to strengthen these perceptions, focusing on differences between Asian Americans and the rest of society far more than similarities.
This type of perception can lead to fear, mistrust, and prejudice, which in turn can devolve into discrimination and racism against Asian-Americans.

The purpose of this website is to connect us through telling stories that reveal our common humanity.
In this space we will present a wider, richer, deeper portrayal of Asian Americans than is typically shown in popular media.
The tagline for this website is “What is most personal is most universal.” All of us have families, dreams, hopes, fears, challenges and in telling our stories it is our hope that we recognize ourselves in each other.
